Gary LaTurner earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters degree in Art
Education from Eastern Washington State University. He has
been a practicing artist and an active member of the arts community
for forty years, concentrating on painting, drawing and ceramic
arts.
Gary's
recent work portrays Northwest landscapes defined by compositional
exploration and personal expression. he also creates
expressive portraits and figure drawings in pastel on paper.
His works are shown in a variety of gallery spaces throughout the
Northwest. Gary's paintings and drawings are included in
collections in Russia, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Japan and Germany.
LaTurner was an art educator with the Bellevue school district for
twenty-nine years. He continues to teach at a variety of
universities and colleges. He is actively involved in
curriculum development at the Bellevue Art Museum. Gary has
been a part of the committee established by the Commission on
Student Learning to design the Washington State Essential Learnings
in the Arts.
Gary
and his wife currently live in Enumclaw where he is working part
time as the arts administrator of the Enumclaw Parks and Recreation
Department.
Gary's watercolors are as wonderful as they are unique.
