Arts Alive Minutes from Board Meeting 1-12-08

Present: Lori Twiggs, Layne Kocina, Julie Taylor, Michele Larson, Debbi Fank, Jan White,  Lorrie Maras, Doreen Bowie, Joanne Symington, Susie Teierle, Liz Reynolds, Diane Franchini,  Judi Puttman, Lisa Strauss, Horst Daniel.

Amendments to last months minutes:

  • ·         Regarding - -Juroring , should read “looks for promotional and versatility of items.

  • ·         Auction 08  Elaine bought stand ups $34.99 each

  • ·         The contact for www.sococulture.org  is Judi Puttman.

Treasurers Report

  •                 $10,000 bought 2 (two) $5,000 CD’s to mature in 6 months (June 17th)

  • Report was then tabled due to a question over Pete’s rental.

Scholarships

  • ·         Recipients will receive $1,000 each.

  • ·         Recipients are James Mitziatsu and Hans Nelson

Gallery

  • ·         Added a new jewelry artist,  Jane Krohn

  • ·         We have room for 2 more “free standing” artists

  • ·         Alice Adams money ($210) will be returned as her cabinet has been rented out.

  • ·         Susie Teirele will be starting the Play Readings Feb 22, form 7-9PM

  • ·         A scrapbook club social gathering – no class – may be taking the class room on Mondays 11-1

  • ·         Knitting group is also a possibility.

Guild

  • ·         Dianes Journal demo went well and she will have a class on Feb 9th.

  • ·         Feb 2nd Lorrie Maras will demo greeting cards

  • ·         March will be Susie Teirele with a jewelry making demo

  • ·         Apr will be a pastel demo

  • ·         May will be Layne Kocinas leather demo

 Postcards for advertising / featured artist will go out Feb with Lorrie Maras as featured artist.

 Art in the Garden

  • ·         Liz Reynolds presented the history of Art in the Garden. 

  • ·         Liz invited Arts Alive to participate again this year

  • ·         Julie moved to continue to keep Art in the Garden at Liz’s instead of relocating to Cathy Matsons

  • ·         Diane seconded

  • ·         The vote was held, quorum of 6, the vote was unanimous to keep AIG at Liz Reynolds on Gossard St.

Auction

  • ·         Will finalize and pay for Pete’s and sign the contract next week

  • ·         Banner will be addressed by Judi Puttman to RK Graphics

  • ·         Next auction meeting date will be Wed, Jan 16th at 4:00 PM at the Gallery

  • ·         It was decided then that all other auction matters will be tabled to auction meeting 1/16/08

Other business

  • ·         Poetry book is a work in progress and Arts Alive! will cover the expenses.

  • ·         Would like to have it on the check out table at AIG

  • ·         Lori Twiggs volunteered her truck and flatbed for a 4th of July float this year

  • ·         A committee will be set up in Feb for the parade float

  • ·         A letter was written to Tom Michael thanking him for all his hard work

  • ·         A vote was taken and was unanimous to sponsor a table for KCSARC for $125. 

  • ·         2008 budged was reviewed and was accepted by unanimous vote

  • ·         Vision for long term planning committee was assembled and consists of Julie, Debbie, Elaine and Lori T who will be looking into State and Federal grants, building and renting possibilities

  • ·         Newsletter will be printed mid month January, April, July and October

  • ·         Web site was appreciated and was mentioned that we should note that we have WIFI
